Most people enter our lives for a season, not for forever. Too often we create expectations that because somebody was exactly what we needed in one season of our lives, they are what we need forever, or that because we were exactly what somebody needed during one season of their life, we need to be that person for them forever. We neglect to acknowledge the evolution we will inevitably experience as human beings.

Even when our mind understands that people evolve and somebody may only be in our lives for a season, it doesn’t change the pain we feel when our expectations are not met, when our vision for what the future was supposed to be is jolted to an unanticipated reality.

In my last post, I talked about my Season of Release. The absolute hardest thing to release was the relationships. I resisted for a very long time, convincing myself that my staying in certain situations was best for everyone around me. Reality check: it wasn’t best for anyone.

Have you ever felt God finally pushed you off a ledge because you had been ignoring every sign that was sent your way? That is what happened to me a little over a year ago. And for about a year, I have been tumbling down that cliff. The further I fall, the more I let go and the more I begin to trust. There are periods of time, like now, that I find my footing and wonder if I am done with the descent. The truth is, I will likely never be done. There will always be deeper layers to uncover, but I do finally feel I am ready to move forward into my next season.

What I want to share with you today, though, is that regardless of how scary this past year has been, all the support I needed was put into place before I was pushed off that ledge. As I began my journey down the mountain, I immediately could see the ropes and guides that the Universe had lined up for me so I could stay securely anchored and rappel safely to my next trail. It still felt a lot like falling, but there is no denying certain people and communities were brought into my life prior to the push from God so I would have the support I needed to descend safely and even gracefully.

I was able to anchor to God only because I had developed a deeper understanding of the wholeness of God. I understand God, not as a man in the sky puppeteering my life, but as an abundant energy that creates our entire reality and exists beyond what we as humans are able to comprehend, and definitely beyond what we have the vocabulary to describe. That said, using stories and metaphors, we, just like many people before us, do our very best to capture the essence of God through writing.

For the first time, I was connecting to Mother Nature as the divine mother that she is, I was connecting to the Holy Spirit within myself and trusting that voice, my intuition, to guide me through my fear and uncertainty. We must anchor to that higher power, regardless of what we call it - God, Source, Universe, Mother, Father. That is what will get you through this, whatever your “this” is.

There is a Source, an energy, that is beyond anything our human minds will ever fully comprehend, and that Source connects us all. That energy lives within each of us. It lives within the trees, within the chirping birds, and within the water that flows through the rivers and through our bodies.

No matter where you are in life, no matter what you are struggling with, know that you are exactly where you need to be. Trust that inner voice that is guiding you. You will be amazed at the alignment that results from your obedience to that voice. You will find that the people and the tools you need to get through this are being brought into your life. Your only responsibility is to keep that alignment.

Over the past couple weeks, I thought a lot about that first blog I wrote, and I felt something important was missing. It was the action item at the end. I'm not here only to create a space to share my story but also to provide you with resources that will propel you into your next season. So, I will start including action items at the end of my posts. Here is your action item for this week.
